Jill
Nicholson is an experienced technical and business communicator
who lectured in science and technical communication skills for many
years at the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia.
She now presents business and technical communication courses to government departments, the private sector and a number of universities in Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Singapore.
Jill also contracts technical writing services to a number of major companies in Australia.
Recent clients include Nortel Networks, Unisys, HPA, Energy Australia, Integrated Research, Sun Microsystems, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, United KG, ASIC, the NSW Rail Infrastructure Corporation, and the RTA.
Jill presents workshops at the STC (USA) Annual Conferences and, on occasions, to the ASTC (NSW) Inc. Conferences.
Jill is a senior member of the Society for Communication (USA) and served as the inagural President for the Australia chapter. She also served as committee member, conference organiser and President of the Australian Society for Technical Communication (NSW) Inc.
JoAnn
Hackos, PhD, Comtech president and fellow of the Society for
Technical Communication, is an internationally known expert on
information design and development.
Her book, Managing Your Documentation Projects (John Wiley, 1994) has become the standard for information development worldwide. JoAnn's information development methodology has been taught to thousands of developers, and her information process maturity model is the foremost benchmark tool to improve the quality and cost effectiveness of the information and training organizations of the world's major corporations.
Dr. Hackos is called upon by major corporations to consult on the design of their information packages, including interface design and online documentation, and the assessment of their customers' satisfaction with products, processes, information, and training. Recent clients include IBM, Federal Express, Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, Sun Microsystems, Glaxo Wellcome, and more.
